The symbiosis of the wide plant variety of the botanical garden, with the space and the structures presented in the hotel, have managed to create over the whole complex a set of different spaces that are interrelated.

On the first floor terrace, with spacious sunny areas, it is possible to see a rich collection of plant species such as, canarian endemic, Euphorbia canariensis, “seat of mother-in-law”  one of the most popular cactus, as well as Aloe vera. Meanwhile in the aquatic environment, two bridges serve as binding footpaths that surround it; where the contemplation of the goldfish or the elegant movement of black swans on the surface of the lagoon, merges the visitor with the nature that surrounds it.

The area around the pools and the building is covered with grass, and the dispersed woodland projects spectacular shades, giving guests the opportunity to choose between a relaxing time under the sun or protected by mexican fan palms and rosewoods. The enclosure that surrounds the entire hotel is dense and consists of numerous species as, gold pines, jacaranda trees, sea grapes and sea pines, drawing a line with the urban environment that is incredibly quiet and smooth.

The relationship between the rooms of the hotel and its gardens, it is been created very carefully, but only living a large window to separated them. We can distinguish three hall concepts, in relation with the Hotel Botanico gardens.

• El Salón Bar Hall: Presents in front of its large windows, gardens with lush vegetation, wild-looking; keeping on one side, the privacy of customers who rest on the sun loungers by the pool and in the other side the traffic.

• El Salón Vilaflor: Separate of the Salón Bar Hall and a few steps higher, offers the opportunity to see throw its large windows, a fantastic view of the two main gardens.

• La Antesala del Salón Teide: this hall merges with the main garden, where the interior aviary and the discontinuous facade dotted with large windows, create a sweeping effect with the park. Additionally, its roof terrace provides a vantage point to see from a height the main garden.

The Oriental Garden in front of the spa, the most intimate corner:

This garden, in front of the body therapies facilities, has a very neat arrangement. The access to spa and garden define both spaces, separating them by physical boundaries, but not with visual barriers. The oriental decorative elements added to the architectural solutions make this garden, the best option to enjoy the more intimate and quiet place of the hotel.

The jars corridor connects the departments of the spa, while limiting the access to the garden by an aquatic plant canal. The contemplation of the garden, while the guest walks across it, is a spiritual rest. The jars, the oriental pavilion, swimming pools and open green spaces, create a harmonious landscape in which the cascade, which breaks over the pool, absorbs the outside noise.

The combination of oriental style, the great care for the space and the symbiosis of the vegetation on these, is what has made the Hotel Botánico Gardens an element without which, could not be understood the hotel itself. The gardens have surrounded the Hotel Botánico building for more than 40 years, and are currently in their greatest beauty. The gardens have two hundred and fifty different plant species, where the trees stand on an extensive green carpet, offering the visitor numerous places to enjoy of a quiet and pleasant shade.

The influence of this little paradise on earth in the environment is clear, providing a lung for the port city and at the same time dampening the noise generated therein, while wildlife live and regularly visit this haven of peace.

The main garden stands over the rest of the natural areas in the island of Tenerife, because it has been created in two heights, which coexist in harmony forming a single landscape. The lower garden has small lakes, where colorful fishes, turtles and swans are part of IT. While in the lower altitude, animals mingle with the rich vegetation, in the upper level, visitors can enjoy peaceful walks and be witness of the calm surrounding this paradise of Hotel Botánico.

A sensory experience

The many circular paths throughout the gardens create perspective changes as visitors cross the garden, where the palm trees and the scattered trees let in light. The incidence of light on trees and vegetation provides an opportunity to enjoy different sensations depending on the time of day that the visitor is making its walk. While trees and vines surround the garden space, looking up above the tops of these same trees, it is possible to see the peaks of the island, even the Teide.

Seeing the movement of goldfishes under the waterfall, the graceful flight of monarch butterflies, or the daily activity of the members of the Swan family, from one of the bridges on the upper paths, shows a small part of the cycle of life of this garden, catching the attention of every visitor.

Luckily, visitors can witness the skill of the heron or egret that fish in the garden lake, while the visitor is sitting by the fountain listening to the gurgling and the flowing water between the pebbles of the small waterfall.

The plant species richness of this garden, allows the visitor to feel the different textures, smooth or rough as the bark of old olive trees; hard or sharp leaves, small or large, such as the philodendron. Visitors can also marvel at the colorful and fragrant flowers, while in the garden of species can smell or taste the aromatic plants, used as condiments in the kitchen of the Hotel Botanico.

After the welcoming speech by the president of Loro Parque Fundación, Wolfgang Kiessling, renowned artists such as the Beatriz Alonso Quartet which recently presented its new Villegas 10 in the auditorium of Tenerife, performed exclusively for this event. The guests also listened to Yanira Martin, a young harpist and revelation of the Canaries, and Debora Quattrini, a renowned composer and singer of Italian jazz who has settled in Tenerife to surprise us all with her warm and sensual voice. In addition to these exclusive brief concerts, the popular singer Chago Melián gave the finishing touch to the evening with a special performance, followed by the grand tombola with fabulous prizes, including a Chevrolet car courtesy of Vilellarahn. The winner was Juan Antonio Pelayo, who received the keys of the brand director of the Rahn group, Jose Antonio Reyes.

The guests enjoyed an exclusive menu consisting of fresh octopus salad, tender watercress vichyssoise, passion fruit sorbet, juicy Iberian pork steaks and puff pastry strawberry and vanilla tart.

With great thanks to the important contribution of the participants, Loro Parque Foundation has raised close to      50,000 €, which will help it to continue to carry out the parrot conservation projects that the Foundation has launched in several countries across 5 continents, and in which it has invested more than 11,000,000 dollars since it began in 1994. Among these are the projects to recover the Blue-throated Macaw in Bolivia, the Yellow-eared Parrot in Colombia and the Lear’s Macaw in Brazil. The latter two species have had their threat category in the Red List of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) down-listed from “critically endangered” to “endangered” a conservation advance which requires the commitment of continuity, and which Loro Parque Fundación firmly assumes.

The evening will be enlivened with performances by various artists, dancing, live music and the famous raffle will be distributed in hundreds of extraordinary gifts.

This recognition was announced at a press conference by the Councillor for Tourism of Puerto de la Cruz, Carmen Padilla, who was accompanied by the heads of the three award-winning hotels, Patricio Feier, Cándido Figueroa and Enrique Taig, respectively. In this regard, the councilor praised the hotels and expressed pride about that 3 of the 7 rated establishments in the island, were deployed in the town of Puerto de la Cruz.

TUI Holly gives these awards to the hundred best resort hotels in the world, selected by their own customers from more than 10,000 establishments among the best international vacation destinations.

Patricio Feier thanked the recognition and remarked the importance of these awards to revalue the sector in Puerto de la Cruz, in particular, and Tenerife in general. He also said that “This is not only recognition in the Canaries, but worldwide” and that “may be equivalent to an Oscar in Hollywood. We must work and further improve services to our customers, but not only in food and beverage; also in increasingly important issues, such as environmental management”, pointed the director of the Hotel Botanico.

This award is in addition to the newly found label “Wellness Delight” granted by the Government of the Canary Islands, which groups the provision of Health and Welfare of the Canary Islands, ensuring that guest services and facilities of the brand are high quality, guaranteed and contrasted. In this regard, the Hotel Botanico 5 * Grand Luxe and The Oriental Spa Garden have been the first facilities in northern Tenerife obtain this stamp.
